John Lester is a Partner of Oliver Wyman.
He joined the firm in 1999, and advises global financial organizations on major initiatives related to analytics, data, financial regulation, risk management, and strategy.
He has led assignments both for major regulators such as the New York Fed and for large complex financial institutions across banking, capital markets, and insurance. He has been active in shaping the industry’s response to the landmark Dodd-Frank Act, including work related to heightened prudential standards, Foreign Banking Organization regulation, the Volcker rule, resolution, and systemic risk. He is a frequent speaker and writer regarding financial regulation.
John has also consulted extensively on risk analytics and governance. He has been active in assisting banks implement and refine stress testing programs, and has led the development of innovative market, credit, and operational risk analytics. He has also led numerous reviews of risk management at major financial institutions, assessing top-level risk governance, organizational structure, risk analytics, reporting, and culture.
As part of Oliver Wyman Labs, John helps large financial institutions harness data, analytics, and design to confront rapid technological, competitive, and social changes. John holds an A.B. from Harvard University.
